Buddy holds a PhD in finance, Stern School of Business and NYU. He began as a finance professor at Stern, NYU, and the University of Maryland. 

Buddy has held positions as head of special opportunities at MerchantBridge, projects including $2 billion for Asia Cell and $1 billion for Century Aluminium smelters. He was head of product development at Masraf Al Rayan with projects including $300 million for Lusail and £1 billion for the Chelsea Barracks in London. 

Buddy was also the global head of commodity finance at the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, projects ranging from oil-linked loans to GCC countries and major oil companies such as Ecopetrol, Pemex, and Petrobras in addition to aluminium-linked loans to major smelters. Additionally, he was cohead of special finance at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Head of Capital Markets Middle East for Merrill Lynch, projects including two award-winning deals with a $1 billion aluminium-linked load and the financing of sovereigns, as well as oil-linked loans to GCC producers.
