BeeNana Wins First Place at the 2017 College New Venture Challenge

The Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business is pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 College New Venture Challenge. The Polsky Center’s premier start-up launch program, the Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge (NVC), is designed to help student teams turn their ideas into viable businesses.

The winners are:

First place ($20,000): BeeNana makes Frönena frozen dessert innovation that is tasty, pure, and simple. Team members include Jessica Gartenstein, Grant Kushner, and Erik Nadeau.

Second Place ($5,000): Averia has developed a device for concussion screening that is accessible and affordable for youth and high school athletic programs. Team members include Samuel Damashek, Pranay Singh, and Rohan Suri.

Third place ($3,000): Gather streamlines and centralizes communications and engagement for student conferences such as Model United Nations. Team members include Greg Adams and Alex Swerdlow.

Treehouse, a sub-leasing marketplace for college students and Competere, which seeks to boost rates at tennis clubs, tied for fourth place.
