Past I-Corps Teams

The Polsky Center I-Corps program is an application-based program for teams working on ideas in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Faculty, students, staff, and alumni from the University of Chicago, Argonne National Lab, Fermilab, and the Marine Biological Laboratory may apply for the program. Below are examples of teams from the 2020-2021 academic year:

AIccelerate
AIccelerate is a software package that allows for the writing of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms on hardware accelerators (chips) with reduced costs and shorter development cycles. Possible applications are industries that need to perform real-time (micro to milliseconds) AI-driven decision making, like the autonomous vehicles industry.

ChemImmune
ChemImmune is developing immune activators to generate non-toxic and efficacious cancer therapeutics. The goal is to modulate innate immune pathways to mitigate off-target toxicities.

Concilio
Concilio has developed a nanoparticle platform which effectively delivers therapeutic nucleotides to cells of interest to more effectively treat cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.

FLOW Medical
FLOW Medical is developing a multi-function catheter for diagnosis and treatment of venous thromboembolic disease, enabling more effective pressure measurement, diagnostic contrast agent delivery, and prolonged infusion of medications.

MadreCare
MadreCare is developing a SaaS maternal health platform to empower and educate mothers to identify postpartum warning symptoms and enhance care coordination among mothers and health providers.

Navability
Navability is developing an artificial intelligence-based, novel open-source framework for the rapid development of Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) solutions in robotics applications. The team intends to utilize this framework to provide enabling technology for a wide range of companies needing localization solutions.

PainNavigator
PainNavigator is a web-based app aimed at providing accessible, evidence-based multifaceted therapy plans for people suffering from chronic pain. Users will receive a step-by-step curriculum based on a biopsychosocial approach to optimize their chronic pain, improve their function, and reduce healthcare costs.

QuantumScale
QuantumScale is looking to solve the key problems of current and future quantum computation associated with solving large-scale problems on existing small-scale quantum computers and quantum simulators.

ReZilient Power
ReZilient Power is developing a low-cost, long-duration energy storage solution that smooths volatility in renewable electricity generation and provides resilience against severe weather events or disasters.

Stellatus
Stellatus is developing a transparent communications platform for open and secure communication between satellite operators to help reduce friction and increase safety and security in space.

VectorDB
VectorDB is building the next generation of data engines tailored for analytics over multidimensional (vector) data, which is becoming a core piece of infrastructure in modern artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Internet of Things applications.
