Physical Products Incubator

Overview

The Physical Products Incubator is a twelve-week program designed to help inventors and innovators go from idea to prototype, as well as understand their customers better. Instructional sessions are held in-person at the Polsky Exchange North, 1452 E. 53rd St, 2nd Floor, and the Polsky Center Fab Lab, 1463 E. 53rd St., 2nd Floor. The program meets Wednesday afternoon mid-September to the beginning of December.

Outside of the sessions, participants create digital design files and at least two prototypes, conduct at least 20 customer interviews, and present their prototypes and findings during the final class session. Guidance will be provided to assist in designing customer interviews, and training will be available on necessary software. Participants should expect to commit at least 10 hours per week (including instructional time) to this Incubator. Founders must be 18 or older. Founders should be able to use a keyboard and mouse and access the Internet. No previous prototyping or business experience is required.
