Mr. Andy Ann is an award-winning serial entrepreneur – the founder and chairman of NDN Group, a digital conglomerate focusing on data, mobile, and media technologies. Andy also founded Klarity Analytics, a big data anlytic engine, and Hot Mob, a leading mobile data company. He’s the cofounder of YAS Digital Limited (YAS) whom pioneered one of the first bitesize insurtech companies in the region. 

Andy actively contributes to the business startup community – he is well known for discovering and mentoring high-potential entrepreneurs, he has been actively involved in multiple local and Silicon Valley incubators including Google EYE, Founders Institution, Entrepreneur Organization, and more. He is one of the founding members at the TEDx conferences, focusing on inviting inspirational speakers in areas of NGO, social enterprise, and philanthropy, to uncover new ideas to make the community a better place for all. Andy also cofounded GoImpact Capital Partners, an ecosystem to fast track social impact investment for making a difference in the world. 

In addition, he was awarded as Young Entrepreneur Winner of DHL and SCMP as well as EO Piaget in 2008 and 2013 respectively. In 2014, he was nominated as the top 50 most influential businessman in China by Leader’s Talk. He is also on the executive committee of One Foundation Hong Kong, Hong Kong Management Association, Belt & Road Committee of Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Management Association, and currently serving as the president of the Chinese University EMBA Alumni Association. 

Andy is a graduate from the University of British Columbia with a degree in economics and psychology. He also earned an EMBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Professor Toa Charm has been contributing to the innovation and technology industry for more than 30 years. He held senior management positions in leading multinational, Hong Kong and mainland enterprises including Cyberport, HSBC, IBM, Oracle, Kingdee and Jardine Pacific. Prof. Charm is currently an associate professor in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School where he cultivates the next generation of digital leaders and entrepreneurs. He also chairs and advises a few elite AI/Big Data and FinTech start-ups in Asia.

Professor Charm specialises in AI/big data, fintech, innovation and entrepreneurship, digital strategy, leadership, and transformation. He has been empowering enterprises such as HSBC, Chow Tai Fook, Convoy, Hong Kong Airport Authority, Hong Kong TownGas, MTRC, Baidu, Lenovo, China Construction Bank, to transform to the digital economy in various ways. It includes advising senior management on digital transformation, bringing in innovations from startups to match corporate needs, co-organizing innovation labs, accelerators, competitions and hackathons with corporates, and delivering best practices training to corporates.

Professor Charm has been actively cultivating the startups ecosystem in Hong Kong and Asia. While he was the chief public mission officer of Hong Kong Cyberport, Professor Charm led his team to establish and cultivate a world-leading digital tech ecosystem in Hong Kong with 1,200+ digital tech companies from 30+ countries where 300+ are fintech companies and at least 3 are unicorns now. At present, Professor Charm continues playing an active role in Cyberport’s Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group, HKSTP’s Mentorship Programme, ASTRI’s Technology Panel, and FHKI’s Startup Council. He was the head judge of 2020 and 2019 HK ICT Awards – FinTech Award and the final judges of the most influential startups competitions such as MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 APAC, Alibaba JumpStarter, HSBC x HKET Innovative Business Award, HKSTP Elevator Pitch, TechCrunch, BOCHK Hackathon, Citi Challenge, etc.

Gita is the cofounder and CEO of RFitness, Indonesia’s largest online and offline boutique fitness brand. She started her journey into wellness when she was diagnosed with Still’s disease, an autoimmune condition that affected her joints and lungs.

She began a fitness community in 2015 after wanting an inclusive, equitable, and non-judgmental space. In 2017 it became the first boutique fitness company in Southeast Asia to ever raise venture capital funding. Now R-Fitness is in 5 locations, the Rfitness app is available online, and it runs live online yoga, HIIT, cycling, and meditation classes daily for B2B and B2C.

Before R-Fitness, Gita has been in the startup space for 11 years, and has previously held positions in finance and business development. She is a graduate of the Wharton School (MBA) and the University of Chicago (BA).

Raymond Wong manages the HKSTP Corporate Venture Fund and Business and Investment Support departments. He has 25 years of extensive financial services experience in venture capital and private equity investment, portfolio management, merger and acquisition, as well as strategic investment across multiple sectors in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to HKSTP, Raymond was a principal in HPEF Capital Partners, previously known as HSBC Private Equity Asia, and participated in three consecutive Asian funds for 16 years. Prior to HSBC, Raymond held various roles at ABN AMRO Bank in the proprietary capital investment, equity capital markets, and corporate finance divisions. Previously, he was a software developer at IBM Laboratory in Toronto, Canada.  Raymond is a member of the Venture Committee, Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association.

Buddy holds a PhD in finance, Stern School of Business and NYU. He began as a finance professor at Stern, NYU, and the University of Maryland. 

Buddy has held positions as head of special opportunities at MerchantBridge, projects including $2 billion for Asia Cell and $1 billion for Century Aluminium smelters. He was head of product development at Masraf Al Rayan with projects including $300 million for Lusail and £1 billion for the Chelsea Barracks in London. 

Buddy was also the global head of commodity finance at the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi, projects ranging from oil-linked loans to GCC countries and major oil companies such as Ecopetrol, Pemex, and Petrobras in addition to aluminium-linked loans to major smelters. Additionally, he was cohead of special finance at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Head of Capital Markets Middle East for Merrill Lynch, projects including two award-winning deals with a $1 billion aluminium-linked load and the financing of sovereigns, as well as oil-linked loans to GCC producers.

Mr. Lefever joined Silver Capital Advisors as a partner in 2017 to focus on the industrials, consumer, and retail industries. Previously, Mr. Lefever was the managing partner and cofounder in 2001 of Axiom Financial Advisors, LLC, an investment banking firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions, strategic reviews, and corporate finance advisory. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Lefever was a managing director at CIBC World Markets (formerly Oppenheimer) in New York, where he headed the Transportation Equipment & Services Investment Banking Group. His principal responsibilities included M&A and corporate finance. Prior to joining CIBC, Mr. Lefever was a managing director in corporate finance at UBS Securities in New York, where he worked as an investment banker for ten years serving companies in a broad range of industries. 

Mr. Lefever has represented numerous domestic and international clients in a variety of advisory and financing transactions with deal values totaling over $10 billion. He has completed deals on four continents. These M&A and strategic review assignments were exclusive mandates on which Mr. Lefever was the senior banker. Clients include Fortune 200 companies, smaller corporations, private equity firms, hedge funds, and not-for-profit entities. 

Before joining UBS, Mr. Lefever was an attorney with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York, where he specialized in negotiated acquisitions. Prior to graduate school, he worked in the Banking Section of the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC. Mr. Lefever has published in the Federal Reserve Bulletin, American Economist and University of Chicago Literary Review. Mr. Lefever earned an honors degree in economics from Bucknell University and a MBA and JD from the University of Chicago, where he was the student government representative for both the law and business schools, as well as the recipient of a merit fellowship awarded by accounting firm Peat, Marwick & Mitchell. Mr. Lefever is married with three children. He is an avid SCUBA diver and a KCBS certified BBQ judge. Ellen recently joined the Catalytic Impact Foundation, a mission driven healthcare venture capital company. She has followed the healthcare industry as an analyst and institutional investor, as well as working as a consultant within the industry. She initially worked as an analyst and investor with Lord Abbett where she was a partner (investing in retail and consumer-based companies), and UBS Asset Management. Most recently she served as an executive director at Morgan Stanley Investment Management.   

Prior to that Ellen had worked in banking, at ING Barings, Chase and the French Merchant Bank, Worms et Cie.  At Worms, she developed an understanding of the unique considerations of smaller organizations and companies, investing in, structuring and negotiating bespoke private transactions.  

Ellen earned her MBA from the Chicago Booth, with a specialization in finance. At the Booth, she was a recipient of the Rockwell International Fellowship. Her BA is in economics and public policy from Duke University. She is a CFA charterholder. 

She currently serves on the advisory board of the Hot Bread Kitchen incubator, a New York city not for profit. She also is advising Carehaus, a unique senior co-housing venture led by two MIT faculty members, on healthcare and financial issues.

Steve Sanger is a partner with Evolv Ventures. Prior to joining Evolv, Steve held a variety of leadership roles including as an early member of GrubHub’s executive team as their VP, business development that grew the business from $8M to over $400M resulting in a successful IPO (NYSE:GRUB) in 2014. Steve was responsible for the company’s business and corporate development efforts as well as helping to launch the company’s delivery initiative. He has held executive and senior roles at Tronc (formerly known as Tribune Interactive), and Diamond Management and Technology Consultants (acquired by PwC), as well as an advisor to many food tech brands. 

Steve earned an MBA from Chicago Booth and a BSJ from the University of Kansas. Steve is an active member of the technology community and is a mentor for TechStars as well as a judge at Chicago Booth’s New Venture Challenge. He is an advisor to a handful of early-stage startups in the Chicago market and is an avid supporter of the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (member of the family advisory board from 2012-2015).

Joanne’s passion for technology developed early, when her mathematician dad and computer scientist mom taught her how to program. By the time she was nine years old, she had turned her skills into a business and made her first webpage for a client. Joanne began her career as an engineer at Cisco Systems and later cofounded a mobile gaming company. She also spent many years working on Wall Street at Jefferies & Company, helping tech companies go through the IPO and M&A processes, and at Probitas Partners, advising venture firms on their own fundraising process. She was an angel investor for two years at Hyde Park Angels prior to joining Foundation in 2014. Joanne is on the board of TubiTV and Findera, and observes the boards of Mya Systems, Custora, and Localytics. She has also invested in Simppler, Quilt Data, Brightback, Oasis Labs, CaptivateIQ, and Zengaming. Anoop has over 10 years of startup experience in various capacities. He joined protoCapital in 2018 and managing director. Anoop brings a wealth of relationships developed hosting many events, dinners, and retreats while at Loeb.nyc and the Founders Organization. 

Anoop comes to protoCapital from the Founders Organization, an invite-only group made up of successful founders with over $1.5 mm in net revenue across various sectors and regions. From 2016, TFO has had over 60 dinners in 20+ cities. Through over 60 dinners in 20 cities, Anoop’s phone-free events focused on networking, value creation, management of online infrastructure, third-party logistics, and all forms of marketing.  

Prior to TFO, Anoop was instrumental in the launch of Loeb.nyc, a Michel Loeb (Loeb Enterprises) incubation startup studio. He collaborated with the venture team around the qualitative and quantitative analysis of new and existing investments. By working directly with company founders, he was able to examine and test emerging businesses across a multitude of industries, explore new sectors through direct and indirect research and facilitate marketing efforts to raise capital across a variety of investment platforms. 

Some of Anoop’s earlier works included projects for ScriptRelief, a $1 billion-plus internally grown portfolio company, as well as serving in the role of Director of Digital of SiO Beauty. SiO, a Loeb.nyc backed company with over $20mm in net revenue, specifically tapped into Anoop’s talents in website/3PL infrastructure and digital and influencer marketing. 

Anoop graduated from George Washington University with a double concentration in international business and hospitality management. Anoop is on the board of Mouth Media Networks, and has been a mentor to the New York Fashion Tech Lab, NUMA New York, and Startup Institute. He is an avid reader and lives in the East Village with a glorious hat collection.

Jawhara Tariq has a background in LP investing, operations, and statistical analysis. Prior to joining M13, she created the investment mandate for a family office, helped to scale a venture development firm, and consulted with a fund of funds investing in underrepresented fund managers. 

Jawhara also worked as an associate at a venture fund in San Francisco where she made primary and secondary investments in late-stage enterprise software companies. Before working in venture capital, Jawhara worked in nonprofit consulting where she advised private foundations on how to increase impact.
