Maria T Carmona, MBA ’25

Founder & CEO, Kivira

Maria T Carmona is a global founder with experience building companies across volatile, emerging, and developed markets.

She previously co-founded a Y Combinator–supported fintech platform that scaled to over 3 million users across Latin America and the U.S. Maria has built multiple products from zero to one, leading growth, product, fundraising, and large-scale partnerships with financial institutions, and ultimately through a PE backed acquisition.

In response to inflationary and currency volatile environments, she also co-founded Collectum, an alternative investment vehicle designed for distressed economies, achieving 40% CAGR AUM growth and a 22% annual return. She is an active investor in companies across Latin America and the U.S.

Maria is currently building Kivira, a healthcare company operating at the diagnostic infrastructure layer of mental health. Her work reflects a systems level approach shaped by building in constrained environments, focused on long term resilience and scalable infrastructure. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Financial Times, CNN, and other leading publications.

She holds an MBA from Chicago Booth, where she was a merit scholarship recipient, and her most recent startup received investment from the Polsky Center.
