When Building Software is Dangerous
Almost every business needs some form of technology to support operations. And these needs change over time. A common pitfall that entrepreneurs fall into is thinking that they need to have custom software built to support their processes. This can be very dangerous if done too soon or without a concrete grasp of the implications. Once custom software is built, it needs to be maintained, which can be a burdensome overhead for a resource-strapped startup.
Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. Let’s talk about ways to determine technology needs, when to use off-the-shelf services and when to really dive in and build you own.
