Introduction to Venture Capital: A Toolkit for Analyzing and Financing Startups

Graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, researchers, and faculty conducting scientific research at UChicago, Argonne, and Fermilab are eligible to apply for Introduction to Venture Capital: A Toolkit for Analyzing and Financing Startups. Adapted from two popular entrepreneurship courses at Chicago Booth, this course will empower scientists to understand the underlying economics of a new business and will be taught by professor Scott Meadow. Participants will also gain insight into how investors make decisions. The course is recommended for those interested in entrepreneurship and technology commercialization. No previous business experience is required. Read the syllabus here. >>

The class will meet every Wednesday from January 9 through March 13 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Harper Center. There is no cost to take this non-credit course. Attendance is mandatory. This course can serve as a precursor to or a continuation of the Polsky Center I-Corps Program or the Entrepreneurship for Science and Medicine course, which was offered in the Autumn 2018 quarter.
