Chris McGowan has been a venture capital and private equity investor for 24 years and is the general partner of CJM Ventures, a private equity firm focused on buyouts, growth equity, and venture capital investments in companies located near Chicago. In 2011, Chris retired as a managing director from Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP), where he co-headed their basic industries practice for the last five years of his 12-year career there and oversaw equity investments totaling over $2.0 billion.
This event is an IIR workshop. The investor-in-residence program provides mentorship and coaching to University of Chicago Booth students interested in learning about and pursuing careers in private equity, venture capital, and entrepreneurship through acquisition. Successful Chicago-based investors are available to meet one-on-one with students throughout the academic year and host regular small group sessions and workshops.
