Heather Harper founded the Startup Legal Shop at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. In this role, she represents startups and growth-stage companies in business transactional matters. The goal of the Startup Legal Shop is to provide high-quality business legal services at an affordable rate and to educate and empower clients to make sound business decisions. She is a mentor at 1871 and active in the startup community.

In her faculty role at IIT Chicago-Kent, she designed, launched, and directs the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic (the “ELC”). Students learn drafting, counseling, and other legal skills while working directly with Chicago’s vibrant startup community. In addition to supervising law students in the ELC, Professor Harper teaches Entrepreneurship Law and Business Entity Formation.
