Distinguished Entrepreneur Series: A Fireside Chat with Vallabh Banshali and Chicago Booth Dean Madhav Rajan

Join the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Chicago for a Distinguished Entrepreneur Speaker Series event featuring ENAM Securities co-founder and former Reserve Bank of India board member Vallabh Bhanshali in a fireside chat with Chicago Booth School of Business Dean Madhav Rajan.

SPEAKERS:

// Vallabh Bhanshali is a well-known thought leader, mentor, investor, and businessman in India. He is the Co-founder of ENAM Securities, the reputed Banking and Investment Group, which in 2010, merged its advisory business with Axis Bank. Since then, he has devoted his life to social, national and spiritual endeavors. His non-profit, the Desh Apnayen Foundation works with government and private schools to instill civic engagement at young age. He also started the platform, Truth Talks, to highlight the practical benefits of a truthful life. He hosts a popular TV show on volunteerism, and has co-produced two acclaimed documentaries on Indian civilization. He has served on the board of the Reserve Bank of India and on several governmental policy making advisory committees. He is the founding member of FLAME, a pioneering liberal arts university, as well as the Indian School of Public Policy. He has been admitted to the Hall of Fame of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has earned two honorary doctorates. Vallabh credits a lot of his success to Vipassana meditation. He was formerly the chairman of the Global Vipassana Foundation.

// Madhav Rajan is Dean of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and George Pratt Shultz Professor of Accounting. His primary area of research interest is the economics-based analysis of management accounting issues, especially as they relate to the choice of internal control and performance systems in firms. He has carried out analytical, empirical, and field-based research on the role of information in incentive contracting, the value of nonfinancial and subjective performance measures, and the structural properties and usefulness of common financial ratios. He is a Director of Cavium, Inc. and iShares, Inc. and a Trustee of the iShares Trust. Rajan received his Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Madras, India, and an MS in Accounting, an MS in Industrial Administration, and a PhD in Accounting from Carnegie Mellon University.
