Join the Polsky Center for a discussion on how to build a fintech startup. The panel will provide insight into fintech startup journies they have lived or observed, how the use of accelerators can help fintech businesses, and the importance of partnerships to innovate and scale in financial services.

Attendees will also learn about a new \prize being awarded by Discover to a finalist of any track of 2019-20 Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge that is working on a fintech venture.

Speakers will include:

• Carlos M. Minetti, MBA ’86, is the president of consumer banking at Discover Financial Services and is a member of the company’s executive committee. Carlos has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and serves on the boards of 1871, Lurie Foundation, Trustmark Companies, BBB of Chicago, Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and American Financial Services Association.
• Lindsey Murray, is the senior director of corporate innovation at Techstars. Lindsey focuses on driving portfolio exposure and entrepreneurial engagement across Techstars corporate partners. Her background includes consulting and private equity experience, focused on early stage company development in healthcare, fintech, and energy as well as working with startups in India and Nepal.
• Meenakshi Chitra Lakshmanan, is a current student at Chicago Booth and is the cofounder of Manifest, the Rattan L. Khosa First-Place Prize winner at the 2018 Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challeng. Manifest is creating a network between 401(k) providers and streamlining the process to help eliminate the estimated $2.5 billion that providers lose each year due to a variety of inefficiencies.
