The Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation team is paving the way for Chicago’s entrepreneurial spirit. Housed on a collaborative campus, we are a group of committed professionals dedicated to promoting and supporting students, faculty, staff, alumni, researchers and local entrepreneurs as they navigate the complex process of creating and growing a startup. Nora Mansfield serves as the assistant director of entrepreneurship programs and the George Shultz Innovation Fund at the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She is responsible for managing the Polsky Center’s portfolio of venture capital and entrepreneurship through acquisition programs, as well as the Innovation Fund Associates (IFA) program. This work spans a range of programs including VCIC, PE/VC Lab, PE/VC Lab: SFI, ETA Alumni Symposiums, recruitment and training of IFAs, and other strategic efforts for the George Shultz Innovation Fund. 

Prior to joining Polsky, Nora was on the marketing team of a buy-one, give-one brand based out of Los Angeles that provided school supplies to classrooms in need in the U.S. 

Nora earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and studio art from Loyola Marymount University (LMU). While at LMU, Nora was actively involved in service and social justice organizations and worked for various social enterprises in the Los Angeles area. 

Nora is driven by fostering connections to help both students and startups succeed. Nora enjoys all things related to food – exploring new restaurants, testing recipes, and striving to find the perfect balance of salt, fat, acid, and heat. When she’s not thinking about food, you can find her practicing yoga or creating art.

Jason Pariso is the director of the University of Chicago’s George Shultz Innovation Fund, a pre-seed fund dedicated to the commercialization of research and technology generated at the University of Chicago, Argonne National Lab, Fermilab, and the Marine Biological Laboratory. In addition, Jason works on University-wide strategic initiatives as a member of the leadership team of the University’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.  

Jason was previously the vice president of strategy and product management for Pinpoint MD, a healthcare startup building the first patient-physician engagement platform. Jason has also served as the vice president of strategic projects for DRIFIRE LLC, a manufacturer of flame resistant, moisture wicking clothing for industrial, and defense applications. He joined DRIFIRE from Dell Financial Services, where he led the development of corporate strategy with the executive team and built the financial analytics to manage over $4B in revolving credit assets. 

Prior to Dell, Jason founded Katapultz, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing IT expertise and support to disadvantaged K-12 schools. He was responsible for finance, recruitment and training, new site development, and strategic partnerships. Jason has also worked as an investment banking analyst in CIBC World Market’s Media and Telecommunications Group. His experience includes over $5B in public and private equity offerings, high yield, bank debt, mergers and acquisitions, and leveraged buyouts. 

Jason graduated from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he earned a MBA with a focus on entrepreneurship and managerial and organizational behavior. He earned a bachelor of arts in economics from Princeton University and is a Kauffman Fellow.

Senior Associate Director, George Shultz Innovation Fund

Steve Lehmann is the Senior Associate Director of the George Shultz Innovation Fund, an early stage fund dedicated to the commercialization of research and technology generated at the University.  He is also active in a variety of strategic initiatives across the Polsky Center.

Steve previously served as an Associate for Ocean Tomo’s Innovation Management practice, where he advised companies on how to invest in, develop, and commercialize technologies and intellectual property.  Prior to Ocean Tomo, he worked on a variety of new ventures in the technology, social enterprise, and international development sectors. His experiences range from leading product development for a Silicon Valley FinTech startup, to launching his own social venture, Threadies, that helps refugee children cope with the trauma of displacement.

Steve holds an MBA from Notre Dame and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University, where he was also a Scholar in the Humanities.
