Forbes 30 Under 30: Energy — Lane Nelson, 29
Forbes released their annual “30 Under 30” lists, which included Lane Nelson, MBA ’17, in the energy category. Nelson is Co-founder and Director of Corporate Development and Finance for Switched Source. Switched Source, an energy startup that has created a hardware device that allows utilities to better manage the electricity distribution grid. Switched Source does this with a new invention that allows utilities to dictate magnitude and direction of power flow, control voltage, and also allow for newer, more environmentally-friendly additions to the grid, like distributed solar technologies. Switched Source took second place and $80,000 in the 2017 Edward L. Kaplan, ’71, New Venture Challenge, and received $150,000 from the UChicago Innovation Fund.
